Obama Tests Positive for COVID-19

Former President Barack Obama has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a Twitter message Sunday afternoon, the 44th president said, he has had a “scratchy throat” for several days “but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative.”

Obama also urged his followers to “get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down.”

Former First Lady Michelle Obama, he said, has tested negative.

Obama, 60, had recently had spent much of the winter in Hawaii and tested positive in Washington, D.C., CNN reported.

COVID-19 cases in the United States have continued to fall. The CDC reported a 7-day average of 34,805 on Friday, down 7.5% from March 8 and down almost 96% from an Omciron peak of 809,325 on Jan. 15.
