Ependymoma Pathology

Ependymomas, as their name implies, are glial tumors that exhibit ependymal differentiation.
This group of neoplasms includes the following tumor categories: subependymoma (World Health Organization [WHO] grade I), myxopapillary ependymoma (WHO grade I), ependymoma (WHO grade II), and anaplastic ependymoma (WHO grade III). Ependymoma, RELA fusion-positive, is a newly-recognized entity codified in the revised fourth edition of the WHO classification; these aggressive tumors include the majority of supratentorial ependymomas occurring in children and young adults.
