Helicobacter Pylori-Associated Active Gastritis

Definition

Helicobacter -associated gastritis is a primary infection of the stomach caused by Helicobacter bacteria. The most frequent Helicobacter species found in patients with active gastritis is Helicobacter pylori (H pylori). H pylori is also the primary cause of chronic gastritis.
A small number of cases of chronic gastritis are associated with Helicobacter heilmannii.
